EVE Online Fleet Recruitment on Discord: Doctrine Roles

An EVE Online fleet sign-up can track DPS, logi, and tackle as roles, not just a headcount, when it's built with /invoke. Pilots pick their role the moment they join, and the FC sees which roles are short without digging back through the channel.

Put doctrine roles into the fleet post itself

Setting up the roles for /invoke is entirely up to the host. Lay out whatever the doctrine calls for: DPS, logi, tackle, EWAR, scouts, and each one becomes a field on the sign-up. After joining, pilots select their role from the menu attached below the post. The roster splits itself by role from there.

You can set a minimum and a maximum for each role. Those numbers are a guideline, not a gate. The fleet still forms and completes even if logi hasn't filled. The role slots exist to show what's missing, not to hold the fleet hostage until every seat is taken.

Spot a logi shortfall even when the headcount looks full

The bigger the fleet, the more likely it is that the total looks right while the composition doesn't: plenty of DPS, not enough logi, or tackle nowhere to be found. Counting bodies alone won't catch that until someone's primary dies with no rep coming in.

Set per-role numbers and the sign-up shows a warning only for roles that are short or over. A role sitting exactly on target shows nothing, so the warnings you do see are the ones that matter. If logi needs two more, the message says so, and there's no need to scroll the roster looking for who to ping next.

Those numbers come from the FC, not from EVE itself. What one corp sets for an armor doctrine, six logi and two tackle, say, is that fleet's call, not a rule every doctrine follows.

Save a doctrine as a preset and pull it up for the next fleet

Corps and alliances run the same doctrine over and over: an armor roam one week, a shield strat op the next, a small gang comp for a quiet Tuesday. Rebuilding the role list from scratch every time gets old fast.

The setup behind any /invoke post, roles and per-role counts included, can be saved as a preset once it's live. Point /preset at the doctrine's name and the whole role list comes back exactly as it was. No re-typing DPS, logi, and tackle counts before every op.

Group multiple squads inside one fleet post

When an op splits into several squads or wings at once, add groups on top of roles. Members then choose a group along with their role, and the roster, along with any shortfall warnings, is broken out per group. Role counts stay shared across every group, though. You can't set a different composition for each squad. It fits an op where every squad is running the same doctrine, not one where each wing needs its own mix.

Once the fleet is full, members get notified and the FC gets a voice channel

Once the sign-up hits its target, a completion DM goes out to the roster, and the FC can open a members-only voice channel from the menu on the post.

The post holds up at any scale, from a small gang to a much larger op. The bigger the fleet gets, the more the payoff from role-based tracking grows.
